Lights, Camera, Action!
In this week's workshop, members of our Community Theatre Company enjoy an introduction to filmmaking...

Thursday 24th Feb 2011. The Red Rose Chain Community Theatre Company's weekly workshop took on a different form to the usual this week, as (in an extended 4 hour session) practical filmmaking became the focus of their work. This broadening of the company's skillset comes as preparation for a major filmmaking project which the group is set to embark upon in the coming months.
The group had conceived and storyboarded two scenes in the previous week's workshop, and this week had the challenge of staging and filming them on location in and around Gippeswyk Hall. The exercise served as an introduction to many aspects of professional filmmaking practice, including scheduling, location managing, shot selection, camera work, sound recording techniques, continuity, and the workflow/etiquette of a film set.
The afternoon was a tremendous success, with the group showing lots of creativity and enthusiasm for filmmaking. We all had a lot of fun too!

In next week's session the group look forward to reviewing the two scenes they shot, and getting to grips with the principles of editing and post-production.
