Press Night: Fallen In Love
Universal acclaim for our Anne Boleyn play...
Wednesday 11th May, Gippeswyk Hall. There was a packed house in our beautiful Yurt theatre for the gala performance of 'Fallen In Love' on Wednesday, and by the sounds of the feedback we received, every one of our audience left amazed and astounded by what they'd seen! It was wonderful to see so many guests arriving at Gippeswyk Hall, amongst whom welcomed our friends from the Heritage Lottery Fund and a number of others partner organisations with whom we have had the pleasure to collaborate.
Also in attendance was best-selling author and historian Alison Weir, a worldwide authority on Royal and Tudor history. Our artistic director Joanna Carrick was very nervous about what Alison would make of the play, but in the end she needn't have been. When asked, Alison had this to say:
"I cannot commend Fallen in Love highly enough. This is theatre at its best, and history transformed into drama with the highest integrity. Never have I seen such a convincing - or compelling - portrayal of Anne and George Boleyn. The interaction between these two superb young actors is dynamic. The script is masterful, incorporating sound research with evocative insights into the culture of the Tudor age, and delivering its complex subject matter entertainingly and vividly. History is rarely brought to life so hauntingly. The acting is a joy, the simple setting delightful and the costumes excellent. All in all, an outstanding production."
