The History Girls at Gippeswyk Hall
An intimate evening of drama, music and visual displays based on the life of Anne Boleyn...
On Wednesday 15th December 2010, Gippeswyk Hall and the Red Rose Chain History Girls played host to a small invited audience, who came along to share in the girls' fascination with history, particularly with the rise and fall of Queen Anne Boleyn.
The group performed a selection of scenes from Anne's life, contrasting Tudor accounts of events with their modern interpretations. The presentations were interspersed with some lively discussion on the events in Anne's life.
The evening concluded with The History Girls talking about their hopes for taking the Anne Boleyn project further, and thoughts of expanding the project to look at the lives of other famous historical women. Refreshment for the evening came in the form of a delicious Simnel cake, created by our chef Barry from a recipe that has its roots in Tudor times.
A small selection of images from the evening is available here.
