This year’s Theatre In The Forest production of The Winter’s Tale has seen the highest ticket sales for Red Rose Chain than ever before. Over 9000 people visited the forest this year for a night of drama, music and magic like no other.

David Newborn, Red Rose Chain’s Producer, is delighted with the outcome of this year’s ticket sales; ‘It really is great news that in these financially difficult times people are still coming to Theatre In The Forest and having a lovely time with their friends and family.’

Friday 28 August saw the revelation of next year’s Theatre In The Forest production, and Red Rose Chain have chosen one of Shakespeare’s most creative and imaginative plays, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to follow on from this year’s success of The Winter’s Tale.

Joanna Carrick, Creative Director of Red Rose Chain’s productions, is thrilled to be returning to A Midsummer Night’s dream next year; ‘We are extremely excited to be creating an entirely new interpretation of a play we have performed in previous years; it is my favourite play and is perfect for Theatre In The Forest. Our audiences are growing at an incredible rate and we want to create the ultimate dream.’

It is hoped that by Autumn 2010, Red Rose Chain Film and Theatre company will have its own purpose-built venue on Ipswich waterfront near Pizza Express. The Witchbottle Theatre will be a flexible 220-seat venue that will cater for live theatre and film and will also be a home for Red Rose Chain’s new writing, outreach workshops, and film screenings.
The generous gift of £75,000 from Ipswich Borough Council gave the project a great start and kicked off Red Rose Chain’s fundraising campaign to find £500,000 in time for 2010.

The Witchbottle Theatre is a significant step for Red Rose Chain. It will help the company to do more work with the local community whilst making Ipswich even more of a Suffolk tourist attraction.

This year has been an incredibly successful year for the company, and next year hopes to be even better.
