Red Rose Chain develops UCS Talent

UCS Students get a chance to work on their first professional production, creating costumes for this summer's Theatre In The Forest

Just one month ago FdA Fashion and Textiles students from University Campus Suffolk (UCS) Great Yarmouth were set the task of making the costumes from scratch for Red Rose Chain’s latest Theatre in The Forest production ‘The Winters Tale’.

Costume designer and actor Jimmy Grimes provided students Zoe Grant, Heather Brown, Susan Holland and Naomi White with original sketches of costumes for the show and invited them to interpret the drawings creatively and produce some striking pieces of work. This week the students travelled to Ipswich for the final fitting before the opening night.
UCS student Heather said ‘It was both an extremely exciting and nerve-wracking day for us, we have put a lot of effort and passion in to making the costumes over the past few weeks and we could not wait to see them on the cast themselves!’

Joanna Carrick, Creative Director of Red Rose Chain, was delighted at the outcome of the students’ hard work; ‘the fitting with our cast members went brilliantly, everyone is pleased with their costumes and we all feel very excited that we are getting closer to a visual realisation we set out to create. Everything is starting to come together artistically and creatively now in all areas of the shows production’.

The Winters Tale will be performed at Rendlesham Forest from 6-30 August this year. For more details and to book tickets please visit www.theatreintheforest.com or contact the Box Office on 01473 288886.
