199024 hour Shakespeare Marathon Wolsey TheatreThe first official Red Rose Chain event kicked off at the Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich. Neil Morrissey (Men Behaving Badly) took on scenes from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, as well as other Professional actors, students and enthusiasts who kept the action going throughout the night. |

1997SparklesharkWritten by Philip Ridley, the production was selected for BT National Connections, a national youth drama initiative. After an immensely positive response the production was rehearsed and made into a short film.. our first ever. We shot it on a budget £500 on a rooftop in Ipswich. The film was taken to local schools to encourage discussion around bullying. |

1998Four Carrier Bags and a BuggyThis 30 minute documentary was made with young parents and looks at the reality of becoming a parent. Over a decade later it is still being used in schools to promote discussion and raise awareness. The success of this film led to a whole range of educational DVDs for schools, you can find out more about them here. |

1999UFO Bentwaters Northgate Arts Centre, IpswichIn 1980 UFO’s set the USAF airbase in Woodbridge, Suffolk, on full alert. Company writers Joanna Carrick and David Newborn took every explanation for the incident and wove it into a plot that showed the hilarious interaction between the Americans and English characters involved. |

The ReviewRed Rose Chain was commissioned to create a play that would explore young people’s experiences of the care system. Young actors performed in the play, which toured to young people in care in Suffolk. Red Rose Chain actor Jimmy Grimes took the lead role, using his own experiences of growing up in care adding authenticity to this ground breaking project. |
