The Witchbottle Theatre

The Company

The CompanyFormed in 1998 by Creative Director Joanna Carrick, Red Rose Chain is an independent, fast growing production company. We specialise in film projects that explore challenging subjects and performances that break the traditional barriers some people face in attending theatre.

We have a small, dedicated, core team as well as a wide network of actors, artists and creative professionals that we work with on our projects. Having built a strong following in the eastern region, we are currently preparing to move into our new home ‘The Witchbottle Theatre’ on the Ipswich Waterfront.

For us, it’s about doing work that anyone can be a part of. We create all sorts of theatre, including new writing and Shakespeare that’s great for regular theatre-goers and newcomers alike. We run workshops across the country focussed on engaging young people and giving them a chance to create their own work. We make films that explore experiences and stories not often seen on the big screen.
