“It’s an apocalyptic fight for God, and it’s a fight that we must win.”
1645. A dark shadow is spreading across England with suspicions of witchcraft on the rise.
The Ungodly is Joanna Carrick’s smash hit play about the 17th Century Witch hunts in East Anglia. After first wowing audiences in 2023 in Ipswich, the show then transferred to London to the Southwark Playhouse Borough. In 2025 The Ungodly toured to New York Off Broadway as part of 59E59 Theaters Brits Off Broadway 2025 season!
In the remote village of Mistley, Susan Edwards, step-sister of self-proclaimed Witchfinder General Matthew Hopkins, has a choice to make. Does she remain rational in a community torn apart by fear, intolerance, and hysteria or become seduced by the idea that her baby’s death was caused by witches controlled by Satan?
