The Junior Chainers Youth Theatre are excited to bring you their new original play, based on the life of the infamous MARGARET CATCHPOLE!

When the mistress of the farm falls ill, young Margaret Catchpole takes a horse and rides from Nacton to Ipswich to fetch a doctor! This astounding feat of heroism is only the beginning of Margaret’s turbulent tale, journeying through love and loss, scary smugglers and daring prison breaks; from the dingy dungeons of Ipswich Gaol, to distant Australia…

This piece, funded by Suffolk County Council, is part of Red Rose Chain’s ‘Our Town’ project, which explores the heritage and people of Ipswich across history. The Junior Chainers is an amazing community group at Red Rose Chain for ages 10+, who work to gain confidence and learn new skills through performance. MARGARET CATCHPOLE is their second play, following THE GREAT CREATOR– their debut performance- in 2024, about the adventures of Wayland the Smith.
