Announcing our transfer to New York!
We are so excited to announce that Joanna Carrick’s 5-star play The Ungodly, will be transferring to New York Off Broadway in spring 2025!
The Ungodly has already reached great success, with a sell-out run last year at The Avenue Theatre. It’s now back in Ipswich from 3rd – 19th October, before heading to London from 23rd October – 16th November at Southwark Playhouse Borough.
The Ungodly tells the origin story of the witch hunts which spread through England and America from 1645. It is a story set in a fractured and polarised society, a tale that reverberates down the centuries to the world of today. Written and directed by critically acclaimed playwright and Artistic Director of Red Rose Chain, Joanna Carrick, the play has already received 5-star critical acclaim; “Spellbinding” (Daily Mail), “The Ungodly was nothing short of a masterclass in theatre” (EADT).
The original cast comprises Nadia Jackson (Shakesqueer – Rosalie and Juliet – Little Attic Productions, The Paddington Bear Experience – Immersive Octopus/Selladoor) as Susan Edwards, Rei Mordue (Macbeth – Theatre in the Forest, Private Lives – The Avenue, Ipswich) as Rebecca West, Christopher Ashman (Laura’s Star – Lyric Hammersmith, Twelfth Night – Theatre in the Forest) as Richard Edwards and Vincent Moisy (The Winter’s Tale, A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Theatre in The Forest) as Matthew Hopkins.
Red Rose Chain Artistic Director, Joanna Carrick, said:
“We are all so excited to be taking The Ungodly Off Broadway. It’s a dream come true. Audiences repeatedly tell us how relevant the show is to today’s world and we can’t wait to see what American audiences make of it.”
