under 5s storytelling project

We work with disadvantaged young families delivering an innovative storytelling programme across children centres in Ipswich.

Funded by The Ragdoll Foundation, our interactive shows for under 5s develop the skills and confidence for parents to read and play with their children. Each year, we engage with over 100 children and families across 5 weeks, telling a different part of our fairytale story each week through play and music! At the end of the project, we invite the families to our theatre to celebrate their success at a special performance present them with a printed book of the story!

The Tortoise and the Hare

Our most recent under 5’s project was the story of the Tortoise and the Hare, with Terry the tortoise and Hatty the hare!

The Princess and the Frog

Our 2022 project was the story of the Princess and the Frog, with Princess Lily and Frank the Frog!

Jack and the Beanstalk

In 2019, we toured Jack and the Beanstalk, with Jack and Ronnie taking their magic beans to under 5s and families in Ipswich!

Red Riding Hood

In 2018, we toured Red Riding Hood around Ipswich children centres, bringing the story of Red Riding Hood to life with Ruby and Ronnie!

“Every night at bedtime my daughter is now reciting bits of the story and randomly shouts out “Ruuuuuuuby, Rooooonnie!”. It’s certainly made an imprint on her imagination! Amazing work!” – Parent

The Three Bears

Our first under 5s project was The Three Bears, which toured children centres in 2017 with storytellers, Ed and Fred!
